First hear, then understand, and then, leaving all distractions, shut your minds to outside influences and devote yourselves to developing the truth within you.
-Swami Vivekananda, Opening quote, Meditations from the Mat: Daily Reflections on the Path of Yoga
Day 288 – Today’s reading is about Rolf’s journey into book writing while teaching & working. He sought advice and then took time off from his “regular” life, and in such, began noticing how exquisite some of the more simple and unnoticed things are, which, after all, is what makes the “stuff” of this–his first–book.
Trying to tackle it all, I woke early for Saturday, having done the opposite on my workday yesterday when I overslept until 7:15! I just couldn’t sleep after I woke up around 5 a.m., so I got out of bed, a zillion little niggling ta-do’s in my head, and stepped on my mat. Perhaps I wake too early, I think. Perhaps I put too much on my plate this year. Perhaps I wake early because I fear of sleeping and missing the best part of my day. Perhaps I wake early because I don’t want to be a sleep-work-sleep kind of girl again. Perhaps I woke early because my head is too full of pre-calc. Perhaps in there is a truth waiting for me to find through patience and practice and reflection.
